The Green Stone Bead holds to an incredible Story of all stories. It is a project that has used rich research
and Cultural Engagement in the finest style. Museum visits, Teacher Training Days and Workshops.

The synopsis of the story goes something like this. The Protagonists, 'Anansi and Monkey' are on a journey
"Sent by the Creator" to "Recover" a bead that has been buried beneath the ocean for 1014 year.
It was left there because that is the safest place for it, as humanity no longer knows how to treat it.
It is a delicate precious stone that only the Gods know how to care for. If it is put back in the hands
of humanity, they will ruin it or worse,
tarnish it from its 'divine state'.

However, the world has gone to such destructive levels that the precious stone actually needs to be returned back to humanity for the sake of saving them from their own destruction. Anansi and Monkey are sent by 'Olodumare', who is played by the Theatre Director, Alex Oma-Pius. The Award winning Director of Creative Arts Company
IROKO Theatre Arts. There is traditional African Storytelling, dancing, singing and Musical choruses,
that has the extraordinary African feel to transport you right back to your roots. Incredible playing of the
Drums and piano by Juwon Ogungbe (You may have seen performance from Life Force Music).

There are so many  histories that can be seen and told here from Nigeria, to Aztec, To Greece and then Ghana (Anansi). Nevertheless, what is interesting in the overall bigger picture is how parts of African history has been hidden or buried. The burial of these narratives can save or break humanity, because they were meant to be passed on. Many young people who were part of the narrative of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade,
Suffer from 'Post Traumatic Ancestral Disorder', (As coined in some earlier essays on the Institute For Black Academics). Without knowing the real meaning of how we got here, and who we are, there will be some serious consequences.

The Green Stone Bead is beauty, love, understanding, Wisdom and divinity, which is what the Creator
made it for to steer humanity in the right direction. It is the embodiment of 'perfection' and 'beauty'.
Like touching the cloack of Christ as he walked in the midst of the people, one touch was all it took
if you believed.

When the Green Stone Bead is sought after by Anansi and Monkey, what they didn't know, was that 'Eshu'
was also sent a similar errand. Eshu may have been working solely for the prize, but may be it also means
that even the 'Trickster' can be working for God at times to achieve the same thing?
Nevertheless, What was intriguing is the fact that when 'Olodumare' stepped out onto the staThe rege at the end,
'Olodumare' says "Well done! . . "We have got the bead back to save humanity" and this then releases everyone into a traditional celebratory dance. So this Performance and piece of research, is crucial to the black community because it points out to us our past atrocities. Lack of respect and apprecition for the gift from the Gods.
This can come in many shapes and forms, such as 'Beauty', caring, sharing, building, working together and pleasing the Creator. We must work for the good of Humanity with 'no distractions?
